Assistant Chief Maximiano Martins was hired by the Orange Police Department at the end of 1994 and graduated at the top of his class from the Connecticut Police Academy in 1995.

Asst. Chief Martins rose through the ranks of the Department, being promoted to Sergeant in May 2003, Lieutenant in August 2007, and Assistant Chief in October 2017. He served the Department as a patrolman, investigator, patrol sergeant, interim Investigative Services Unit commander, patrol commander for all three shifts, and the last four and half years in administrative services.

Asst. Chief Martins has served as a Field Training Officer and unit coordinator, medical coordinator, ATV instructor and unit coordinator, Awards Committee Chairman, and as a Citizens Academy instructor. He is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician. During his career Asst. Chief Martins has been awarded the Department's Lifesaving Medal, Exceptional Service Award, four Letters of Commendation, three Letters of Recognition, and the MADD award. He has also been awarded the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association Samuel Luciano Award.

Asst. Chief Martins graduated from Sacred Heart University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Sociology. He graduated at the top of his class and was the class Valedictorian. He has extensive management and leadership training and most recently completed the Southern Police Institute's Command Officers Development Course.

Asst. Chief Martins has two children and resides in Orange with his wife and step-son.
